Dr. Megan thinks every child as the ability to be a great dental patient and it is important to provide care while building trust, alleviating fear, and promoting a positive attitude towards a child’s dental visit. Dr. Megan Boyd has been cultivating experience in dentistry from an early age- her father is a general dentist in Peoria, IL. As a child, she spent countless hours at the office and started working there as an assistant during high school. Her father’s love of his profession and passion for helping others inspired her to become a dentist herself.
Dr. Megan received her bachelor’s from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She then attended Southern Illinois, earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine. Following graduation, she spent several years working as a general dentist, including two years at a public health clinic in Champaign. During this time she was actively involved with a not-for-profit group providing preventive and restorative care to children at rural schools and Head Start programs. It was during this time, she realized caring for children was her passion and where she could make her biggest impact. Following this decision, she completed a pediatric dental residency at the University of Nebraska, located at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Here she received the distinction of being named Chief Resident.
